Questions & answers on

UVCs

We are improving this technology, already used in disinfection since 1908, to make it more economical, ecological and efficient.

How do UVCs work?

Ultraviolet rays are part of the solar light spectrum (UVA; UVB; UVC). Endowed with great germicidal properties, this invisible radiation emits in the 100-400 nanometer (nm) wavelength range. UVC technology purifies air, water and surfaces in depth, thanks to ultraviolet radiation in the 200-280 nm range. On contact with viruses or bacteria, UVC instantly deactivates their DNA, rendering them totally harmless. Its proven efficacy eliminates 99.99% of pathogens, without any chemicals or toxic residues, leaving your spaces sanitized and free from any health hazard.

Do UVC rays pass through glass?

No, glass filters out 100% of UVC, as does polycarbonate.

Do UVCs work throughout the room?

All surfaces exposed to light rays will be disinfected.
Example: NanoPur-T located in the center of the room: the top of a table will be exposed, the underside not.

Do UVCs pollute the environment?

No, that's one of the advantages of UVC technology: no chemicals, toxins or caustics for disinfection.

Can I tan with UVC?

DO NOT EXPOSE YOURSELVES TO UVCs, as their frequency is different from that of UVAs (which are used for tanning). Doing so can cause serious eye damage and severe burns. It's impossible to tan with UVC rays, which are only germicidal. The sun's rays suitable for tanning are UVA and UVB.

Do UVCs remove stains?

UVCs do not remove stains; their functions are germicidal only. The use of a UVC device on your clothes or fabrics will have the effect of severely deteriorating the textile.

Are there surfaces that don't tolerate UVC?

Indeed, repeated exposure to UVC can cause changes in the appearance (alteration of color) or texture (roughness) of organic materials and certain plastics. However, this will only really be noticeable to the naked eye after several thousand hours of high-power exposure.

Is there a limit to the frequency with which UVC rays can be used?

No, you can use your equipment for several hours a day if you need to. Simply take the necessary steps to avoid exposing people, animals and plants to UVC rays.

Do UVCs release substances during disinfection?

Some UVC lamps on the market emit waves at 185 nm, the frequency at which Ozone gas (highly toxic) is produced. Our lamps are all tested and calibrated to emit at 253.7 nm, and are specially coated with quartz to block the 185 nm frequency. This frequency does not release toxic substances; it is only the UVC radiation that destroys bacteria, viruses, DNA and RNA.

Are UVCs dangerous?

UVC is dangerous to humans when exposed. The main biological effects of ultraviolet radiation are thermal. Excessive exposure can cause skin burns and eye damage. (More than 15 seconds at 1 meter from the device). Our products are equipped with 7 safety features (motion detector, remote shutdown, audible signal, signaling kit, etc.) to guarantee safe use of UVC.

Don't you get the same results with a spray?

Using a UVC device is more effective than using a spray, thanks to its radiation system. What's more, disinfectant sprays have a number of drawbacks to consider, such as high environmental impact and high toxicity.

What's the difference between spray and ultraviolet disinfection?

Disinfectant sprays are antibacterial cleaners based on toxic products such as didecyldimethylammonium chloride. UVC devices, on the other hand, are neither toxic nor polluting. Their sole energy source is ultraviolet radiation.

Is smoke disinfection more effective than UVC?

Fumigant disinfection is no more effective than UVC disinfection. Thanks to its radiation system, your UVC unit can disinfect every part of a room. And unlike smoke disinfection, it's effective, inexpensive and non-toxic.

Are my animals at risk during disinfection?

Just like you, your pets are at risk if they are present during disinfection.

Is UVC toxic when exposed to food?

UVC poses no toxic risk to foodstuffs. On the other hand, they can alter the shelf-life and increase the ripeness of fruit and vegetables.

Are UVCs dangerous when in contact with electrical cables?

UVCs are not dangerous when in contact with electrical cables, thanks to their insulating layer.

Why isn't disinfection 100% effective?

It is impossible to achieve 100% disinfection.
Maximum disinfection corresponds to LOG6, i.e. 99.9999% disinfection.

Can UVCs damage paintings?

Like all UV rays, UV-C can damage the paint on canvases and paintings.

Can I disinfect pool water with UVC?

It is, in fact, possible to disinfect pool water using UVC technology.

Can UVA and UVB disinfect?

UVA and UVB cannot disinfect a room.

What are the advantages of UVC disinfection?

  • Time-saving.
  • Save money.
  • Environmental protection.
  • Toxic-free disinfection.

Questions & answers on

Ozonated water

Our plants transform water into an oxidizing agent with 99.99% disinfectant power. After complete oxidation, the solution reverts to pure water.

What is ozonated water?

Ozonated water, scientifically known as aqueous ozone, is a dissolution of ozone in water. With electrolytic ozone generators, water that has been subjected to an electrical charge can cause ozone to form in the water supply. Aqueous ozone is an exceptionally powerful oxidizing agent. It enables surfaces to be disinfected and cleaned quickly and efficiently. When ozone particles come into contact with viruses, bacteria, germs and other biological agents, ozone reacts instantly to degrade micro-organisms at the cellular level. Compared with other common industrial disinfectants such as chlorine, ozonated water is more effective and faster-acting.

Can I drink ozonated water?

Yes, ozonated water produced by electrolytic ozone generators, such as our own, is safe for humans. What's more, ozone can also oxidize certain minerals, removing manganese and iron from drinking water.

Can ozonated water be used for plant irrigation?

Yes, after 2 hours in an open container, you can irrigate any plant without any problem, as the ozone will have evaporated. In some cases, ozonated water can still have curative effects on certain plant pests and diseases.

Does ozonated water leave an odor after disinfection?

After one hour of continuous ozone water flow, the ozone concentration in an unventilated 5 m² room did not increase. Measured with a calibrated instrument with a sensitivity of 0.01 ppm.

Is ozonated water sustainable?

With ozonated water, chemical cleaning agents like chlorine are no longer needed to sterilize your home or workplace. All a business or home needs to generate ozone on site is a constant supply of filtered water when using our electrolytic ozone generator, which represents huge environmental benefits.

Is ozonated water safe?

Aqueous ozone is considered safe (GRAS) by the FDA (US Food and Drug Administration) and is generally safer than many traditional chemical-based cleaners on the market.
Ozonated water generated by electrolytic ozone generators is a powerful disinfectant, yet it is not corrosive or irritating to the skin. Producing ozonated water presents no fire hazard and a very small chance of outgassing traces of ozone gas with properly functioning equipment.
It is important to note that there has never been a fatality attributed to contact with ozonated water. On the other hand, there are daily reports of deaths linked to popular household cleaning products.
Ozone not only instantly eliminates harmful bacteria, but leaves no chemical traces or odours. It has the ability to thoroughly clean instruments and surfaces without using hazardous chemicals or leaving chemical residues.
After spraying, let the ozone-infused water stand for 30 seconds before wiping or air-drying. Any remaining water evaporates and the ozone reverts to oxygen, leaving no chemical residue.

Is ozonated water really effective?

It has cleaning power comparable to hospital-grade disinfectants registered by the EPA (US Environmental Protection Agency). Several aqueous ozone solutions have been scientifically tested against a wide range of bacteria and viral strains. It has significantly shorter residence times than many disinfectants on the market, enabling surfaces to be disinfected and cleaned in less than 30 seconds.
The typical half-life of aqueous ozone produced by on-site production equipment in a water supply is 15 minutes. This means that in the first five to ten minutes after our unit delivers the electrical charge to produce the ozone, the water is at its most powerful as a super-oxidant and disinfectant agent. In most cases, two hours after the charge, all the ozone molecules disperse spontaneously and revert to ordinary oxygen.

Is ozonated water expensive?

If you use aqueous ozone instead of chlorine, ammonia or other cleaning agents, you won't have to pay for cleaning products on a regular basis.
More importantly for businesses, this eliminates the need for cleaning teams to visit your organization frequently and carry out disinfection. What's more, companies can free up the storage space they would otherwise need to keep disinfecting agents on site.

When is ozonated water used?

Aqueous ozone can be used wherever you would use another cleaning solution. It's effective on floors, mirrors, glass, toilets, walls, contact points, carpets and more.
